The Executive Chairman of Kanam Local Government Council, Hon. Salihu Ayuba Musa, has consistently brought the dividends of democracy to the grassroots people of Kanam. His achievements are made possible under the visionary leadership of the Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, the captain of the “Time is Now” agenda.
Hon. Ayuba has performed remarkably well, earning the respect and admiration of his people. Within a short time in office, he has proven that leadership is not solely about political grooming but about vision, passion, and commitment to service.
Though he emerged from a background in the private sector rather than the traditional political sphere, Hon. Ayuba has surpassed expectations. He has not only matched the strides of his predecessors but has also broken records by executing projects many before him could not achieve.
In just one year in office, his developmental scorecard speaks volumes. His passion for education remains unmatched, as he has placed it at the very top of his agenda. From infrastructure to human capacity development, his initiatives have transformed the educational landscape of Kanam.
Beyond education, Hon. Ayuba has touched various sectors, executing both tangible and intangible projects that directly impact the lives of the people. His leadership continues to serve as proof that purposeful governance can uplift communities and lay a solid foundation for sustainable growth.
- BELOW ARE THE FEASIBLE RECORDED ACHIEVEMENTS IN ONE YEAR.
- EDUCATION – Constructed two units of three classrooms and two classroom blocks at Central Primary School Bakin KASUWA NAMARAN Ward of Kanam LGA. This was his first project, and education was recorded as his first feasible project.
- JAMB REGISTRATION. He also provided free JAMB forms registration to 515
prospective students from the Kanam Local Government Area.
- STUDENT EMPOWERMENT -He also opened accounts for 15 students of the International College of Languages in Dengi, covering their SSCE registration after winning a first position contest of drama and poem organized by the French Embassy in Jos, Plateau State.
c. INFRASTRUCTURE – Rehabilitated and upgraded Guest House 2, to a modern standard, to house any Council Chairman and accommodate honorable visitors.
d. COUNCIL DEVELOPMENT. The Kanam local government council Secretariat Dengi is wearing a new face through the upgrading of the Council Secretariat, which is seemingly a billion-naira project with perimeter fencing completed.
e. HEALTHCARE – Renovation of Primary Health Care facilities in GUM, Gagdi District was another perfect achievement which transformed the dilapidated, neglected structure into a modern standard structure to accommodate the people of Gagdi.
f. HEALTH INTERVENTION-There was swift intervention by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Salihu Ayuba Musa, when there was a. Cholera outbreak in Kwalmiya. The action was timely to curb the cholera outbreak. Medical supplies was immeadiately suppied to the respective Primary Health Care facility.
g. STUDENT SUPPORT – Facilitated transportation for Kanam students back to study centers in Bauchi, Gombe, Jos, and Kano. This gesture was the first of its kind, and parents appreciated this act of goodwill by the executive chairman.
h. SECURITY – Partnered with security agencies to combat kidnapping, leading to the rescue of victims. He didn’t relent but kept profound solutions to curb the menace through engaging the local security Chiefs and the local vigilante policing.
i. SIXTY (60) YAMAHA CRUZ EMPOWERMENT – Distributed 60 Yamaha Crux Rev motorcycles to 60 beneficiaries; this singular action has never been done in the Kanam local government area before, and even in the future, it is not certain whether Yamaha will still have Crux Rev in the chain of production.
j. EMPOWERS 50 COTTON FARMERS -Supported cotton farmers with seedlings, pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers. Going by the past glory of Kanam local government area Cotton was the main cash crop, but the farming of cotton was neglected by our farmers but now encouragement came from the executive chairman.
k. EMPOWERED WOMEN -Promoted women’s skill acquisition programs by registering 200 women of Kanam to acquire skills to make themselves self-reliant and independent of their own status.
l. ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION & CLEAN WATER – Fumigated the Council Secretariat to eliminate harmful rodents and restored clean water access in Namaran Ward.
m. RESTORATION OF CLEAN WATER ACCESS IN NAMARAN WARD
All boreholes within the locality had been non-functional until the timely intervention of the Executive Chairman, which led to the restoration of clean water access for the community.
n. DENGI POLICE BOYS FOOTBALL TEAM TRIUMPHS AT 2025 NATIONAL U-14 YSFON TOURNAMENT
With the support of the Executive Chairman, the Dengi Police Boys Football Team emerged as champions of the 2025 National Under-14 YSFON Tournament. The team returned home in high spirits, proudly carrying the championship trophy. A cash prize of ₦500,000 was awarded to the victorious team in recognition of their outstanding performance by the Kanam executive Chairman, Hon. Salihu Ayuba Musa.
These achievements highlight Hon. Ayuba’s passion for education, healthcare, empowerment, security, and infrastructure. His scorecard within just one year of service is proof of responsive and people-oriented governance that is leaving a lasting impact in Kanam Local Government Area.
