8th October 2026.

The Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs’ tour of the Plateau Central Zone, led by Hon. Chief Ephraim Usman Gar, an illustrious son of Kanam, provided an opportunity to assess ongoing development efforts and engage with stakeholders on the progress recorded across the area.
In Kanam Local Government Area, the tour brought renewed attention to the infrastructural improvements undertaken by the administration of Hon. Salihu Ayuba Musa, Executive Chairman of Kanam Local Government Council, Dengi.
Among the notable projects highlighted during the visit was the rehabilitation and modernisation of the Kanam Local Government Council Secretariat in Dengi. The premises have undergone significant improvements, including interlocking works that have enhanced the appearance, accessibility, and general outlook of the council headquarters.

The rehabilitation of the council’s red-block building into a more modern facility further reflects the administration’s commitment to improving public infrastructure and creating a more conducive working environment for staff and visitors.
These developments demonstrate the importance of maintaining public facilities and improving the physical structures through which local government services are delivered to the people.
COMMISSIONER ENGAGES KANAM ELDERS AND STAKEHOLDERS.
As part of the visit, the Commissioner held an interactive session with elders and stakeholders in Kanam Local Government Area, allowing participants to ask questions, express their concerns, and make contributions on issues affecting their communities.

The engagement provided an opportunity for community representatives to share their perspectives on governance, development priorities, and the expectations of the people from the local government administration.
During the session, Hon. Solomon Damisa expressed his appreciation to the Commissioner for visiting Kanam. He also commended the Executive Chairman, Hon. Salihu Ayuba Musa, for the various projects executed for the benefit of the people.

Beyond his commendation, Hon. Damisa offered prayers for God’s wisdom, guidance, and protection for both leaders throughout their respective tenures in office. His remarks reflected the importance of leadership, constructive engagement, and the collective desire for continued progress in Kanam.
Similarly, Alh. Shehu Danbiri appreciated the Executive Chairman for the development projects undertaken by his administration. However, he called for more projects and interventions across all 20 wards of Kanam Local Government Area.
In a light-hearted but meaningful comparison, his appeal for additional projects was likened to Oliver Twist, who is famously remembered for always asking for more.

Beneath the humour was a serious message: while acknowledging the projects already executed, the people remain eager to see further development that reaches every community across the 20 wards.
His contribution underscored the need for sustained development, equitable distribution of projects, and continued attention to the diverse needs of the people.
DEVELOPMENT THAT SPEAKS TO THE PEOPLE
The commendations from the elders and stakeholders added an important dimension to the visit. Beyond inspecting infrastructure, the engagement offered an opportunity to hear directly from the people who experience the impact of government policies and projects.

For the administration of Hon. Salihu Ayuba Musa, such feedback presents both encouragement and a responsibility to sustain the progress already recorded while responding to the legitimate expectations of the people.
Development is an ongoing process, and the needs of communities continue to evolve. While completed projects deserve recognition, the call for additional interventions serves as a reminder that governance must remain responsive, inclusive, and focused on improving the lives of citizens.
The demand for more projects across all 20 wards also reinforces the importance of ensuring that development reaches communities according to their needs and priorities.

A CALL FOR CONTINUITY AND GREATER IMPACT
The Ministry’s tour of Plateau Central Zone provided a platform for engagement, assessment, and the exchange of ideas on local government development.
In Kanam, the inspection of council infrastructure, coupled with the interactive session involving elders and stakeholders, highlighted two important aspects of governance: the need to recognise progress already achieved and the responsibility to address outstanding needs.

The commendations by Hon. Solomon Damisa and Alh. Shehu Danbiri, alongside their appeal for further development, reflected a shared expectation that the administration would continue working towards a better Kanam.
Ultimately, the true measure of development lies not only in the projects completed but also in the positive difference they make in people’s daily lives.
As Kanam continues its development journey, the expectation remains that the gains already recorded will be sustained and expanded, with meaningful projects and interventions reaching communities throughout the local government area.

In Kanam, the message from the elders and stakeholders was clear: appreciate the progress, sustain the efforts, and do even more for the people.
