to the Executive Chairman,
Kanam local government council.

In a show of leadership, compassion, and political responsibility, the Executive Chairman of Kanam Local Government Council, Hon. Salihu Ayuba Musa, on Monday led a high-powered delegation to communities in the Garga axis that have been devastated by incessant cases of banditry and kidnapping.
The visit, which commenced precisely at 12:00 noon, was not only symbolic of government’s solidarity with the victims but also underscored the administration’s determination to confront the menace of insecurity with courage and sincerity. The delegation comprised prominent political stakeholders, including Chief Ephraim Usman, Plateau State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and Chairman of Kanam PDP stakeholders; former Kanam Chairman, Dr. Yusuf Dayyabu Garga; Hon. Abbas Makwakas Wokdung, Adviser on Environment to Governor Mutfwang; Mr. Shem Damisa Yaute, former Accountant General of Plateau State; the immediate past Transition Chairman of Kanam, Hon. Ado Yusuf, Mr Ibrahim Ghani, as well as all serving council executives.
Their collective presence sent a resounding emphatic message: insecurity is not just a security issue, but a governance challenge that requires unity, sacrifice, and proactive intervention. At the palace of the late village Head of Shuwaka, Hon. Salihu Ayuba Musa, speaking with solemnity, reminded the grieving family and the wider community that “life is sacrosanct, and every human life must be valued and protected.” He charged citizens to regard security as a shared duty, urging them to “see something and say something” to frustrate the evil designs of criminals.
On behalf of the council, the chairman presented ₦1 million to the bereaved family, while Commissioner Usman delivered Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s condolence message and announced that two sons of the deceased would be offered immediate employment. In a further act of statesmanship, Usman pledged to personally sponsor any of the children to tertiary level.
The entourage later visited Garga, where widespread insecurity has claimed many lives. Addressing the community, Hon. Musa decried the shielding of criminals, affirming that “a crime remains a crime without colouration or sentiment.” He urged residents to unite in exposing perpetrators, stressing that peace and security cannot be negotiated but must be collectively enforced.
Commissioner Usman, in his remarks, reinforced the political necessity of establishing State Police as the only lasting solution to the hydra-headed security crisis facing the nation. He appealed to traditional rulers to stand firm with government in identifying criminal elements in their midst.
The condolence visit thus went beyond mourning—it became a platform for security awareness and mobilization, civic awakening, and reaffirmation of the government’s resolve to defend its citizens. The message was clear: insecurity may threaten communities, but leadership, unity, and political will remain the weapons to defeat it.
