One year in office under the leadership of Hon. Salihu Ayuba Musa, the Executive Chairman of Kanam Local Government Council, stands as a testament to purposeful governance and accountable leadership. His achievements are verifiable, tangible, and impactful, with numerous completed projects and others currently in progress — all well-documented in the official records of the Kanam Local Government Council and in the personal archives of Hon. Salihu Ayuba Musa.
These milestones were made possible through the visionary leadership of the Captain of the “Time is Now” administration, the People’s Governor, His Excellency Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, whose prompt and adequate release of funds ensured the successful execution of key developmental projects across Kanam. The people of Kanam remain especially grateful for the ongoing Jarmai Bridge project, which symbolizes the governor’s commitment to reconnecting communities and strengthening local development.
Special recognition also goes to Chief Ephraim Usman, a true son of the soil and a steadfast ally of Kanam’s progress. Through his wisdom, guidance, and unwavering support, he has contributed immensely to the council’s success — from infrastructural development to youth and women empowerment. His acts of goodwill have endeared him to the people of Kanam, earning him their admiration and respect.
Hon. Salihu Ayuba Musa, a visionary leader with a private-sector-driven mindset, transitioned into politics with remarkable results. His performance has not only elevated the image of Kanam but also earned him accolades from predecessors, contemporaries, and colleagues. During the ALGON Peer Review Tour, his peers applauded his giant strides, especially the interlocking pavement projects at the Kanam Local Government Secretariat — a visible symbol of progress and administrative excellence.
The people of Kanam have unanimously attested to the fact that Hon. Salihu Ayuba Musa has performed beyond expectations. BELOW ARE THE FEASIBLE RECORDED ACHIEVEMENTS IN ONE YEAR.
- EDUCATION – Constructed two units of three classrooms at Central Primary School Bakin KASUWA NAMARAN Ward of Kanam LGA. This was his first project, and education was recorded as his first feasible project. (picture below)


- JAMB REGISTRATION. He also provided free JAMB forms registration to 515
prospective students from the Kanam Local Government Area. (picture below)

- STUDENT EMPOWERMENT -He also opened accounts for 15 students of the International College of Languages in Dengi, covering their SSCE registration after winning a first position contest of drama and poem organized by the French Embassy in Jos, Plateau State. (Picture below)


- INFRASTRUCTURE – Rehabilitated and upgraded Guest House 2, to a modern standard, to house any Council Chairman and accommodate visitors. (picture below)

d. COUNCIL DEVELOPMENT. The Kanam local government council Secretariat Dengi is wearing a new face through the upgrading of the Council Secretariat, which is seemingly a billion-naira project with perimeter fencing completed. (picture below)




e. HEALTHCARE – Renovation of Primary Health Care facilities in GUM, Gagdi District was another perfect achievement which transformed the dilapidated, neglected structure into a modern standard structure to accommodate the people of Gagdi.(picture below)

The Gagdi Primary Health Care Centre was in a dilapidated condition before the intervention of Hon. Salihu Ayuba Musa, who came to the aid of the people of Gagdi. Notably, this is the same PHC where a prominent Federal Lawmaker was born.

f. HEALTH INTERVENTION-There was swift intervention by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Salihu Ayuba Musa, when there was a. Cholera outbreak in Kwalmiya and some parts of Dengi state constituencies. The action was timely to curb the cholera outbreak.(picture below)

g. STUDENT SUPPORT – Facilitated transportation for Kanam students back to study centres in Bauchi, Gombe, Jos, and Kano. This gesture was the first of its kind, and parents appreciated the executive chairman’s act of goodwill. The record is already broken because it’s the first of its kind in Kanam. (Picture below)



h. SECURITY – Partnered with security agencies to combat kidnapping, leading to the rescue of victims. He didn’t relent but kept profound solutions to curb the menace through engaging the local security Chiefs and the local vigilante policing. (picture below)



i. SIXTY (60) YAMAHA CRUZ EMPOWERMENT – In a historic and unprecedented move, 60 Yamaha Crux Rev motorcycles were distributed to 60 deserving beneficiaries—a bold initiative never before witnessed in the entire Kanam Local Government Area. This singular act of empowerment not only marks a milestone in grassroots development but also sets a benchmark for impactful leadership. It is worth noting that the Yamaha Crux Rev, a reliable and iconic model, may not even remain in the production chain in the near future, making this intervention all the more significant. What was done here is not just a distribution—it is the preservation of value, the promotion of mobility, and the advancement of opportunity.

j. EMPOWERS 50 COTTON FARMERS – In a bold step towards reviving the agricultural pride of Kanam Local Government Area, the Executive Chairman has extended unprecedented support to cotton farmers by providing high-quality seedlings, pesticides, herbicides, and fertilisers—a strategic intervention aimed at restoring cotton as the economic backbone of the region. Historically, cotton stood as the main cash crop of Kanam, a source of livelihood, pride, and prosperity for our people. But over time, this legacy was abandoned, and our farmers gradually drifted away from cotton cultivation. That era of neglect is now over. Today, under the visionary leadership of the Executive Chairman, hope has returned to the farmlands of Kanam. This is not just agricultural support—it is a deliberate economic revival, a call to return to our roots, and a push to reposition Kanam as a key player in the cotton value chain once again.
K. EMPOWERED WOMEN -Promoted women’s skill acquisition programs by registering 200 women of Kanam to acquire skill to make themselves self-reliance and independent of their own status.(picture below)



L. ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION & CLEAN WATER – Fumigated the Council Secretariat to eliminate harmful rodents and restored clean water access in Namaran Ward.






M. RESTORATION OF CLEAN WATER ACCESS IN DENGI AND NAMARAN, WARDS. For years, the people of Kanam communities endured the hardship of non-functional boreholes, leaving entire communities without reliable access to clean water. This long-standing challenge posed a serious threat to public health and daily life—until the timely and deliberate intervention of the Executive Chairman of Kanam Local Government Area.
Under his focused and compassionate leadership, all previously abandoned boreholes in these localities have been fully restored, bringing clean, safe, and accessible water back to the people. This is not just a restoration of infrastructure—it is a restoration of dignity, health, and hope.
The Executive Chairman has once again shown that leadership is not about promises, but about results that touch lives directly. Where others saw neglect, he saw opportunity. Where others ignored the cries of the people, he acted with urgency.
Today, thanks to his intervention, water is flowing, and trust in leadership is growing. This is the Kanam we are building—one community, one solution at a time. (see picture below)



All boreholes within the locality had been non-functional until the timely intervention of the Executive Chairman, which led to the restoration of clean water access for the community.
N. DENGI POLICE BOYS FOOTBALL TEAM TRIUMPHS AT 2025 NATIONAL U-14 YSFON TOURNAMENT.


With the support of the Executive Chairman, the Dengi Police Boys Football Team emerged as champions of the 2025 National Under-14 YSFON Tournament. The team returned home in high spirits, proudly carrying the championship trophy. A cash prize of ₦500,000 was awarded to the victorious team in recognition of their outstanding performance by the Kanam executive Chairman Hon. Salihu Ayuba Musa.
O. GAGDI PHC UPGRADED WITH COMPREHENSIVE MEDICAL FACILITIES.



The Gagdi Primary Health Care is now fully equipped with 8 beds and 8 Mattresses, 8 drip stands, 8 side drawers, 8 pillows with 16 pillow cases, 16 beds sprayed, 26 windows and doors, curtains, 2 delivery beds, 2 examination couches, 2 infant weighing scales, Blood Pressure Apparatus, 2 thermometers, 10 plastic chairs.
These achievements highlight Hon. Ayuba’s passion for education, healthcare, empowerment, security, and infrastructure. His scorecard within just one year of service is proof of responsive and people-oriented governance that is leaving a lasting impact in Kanam Local Government Area.
P. INFRASTRUCTURE– The double cell culvert has now linked the people of Jom with Dengi the local government headquarters. The people of Jom Ward have appreciated the Kanam LGC executive chairman Hon. Salihu Ayuba Musa for constructing the double cell culvert which was been neglected by his predecessors.


q. Hon. Salihu Ayuba Musa Launches Kanam LGA’s Digital Gateway
Hon. Salihu Ayuba Musa, Executive Chairman of Kanam LGA, has launched Kanam’s first local government website — www.kanamlocalgovernmentcouncil.com — marking a significant step in digital governance. The platform promotes Kanam’s agriculture, enterprise, and rural development, attracting global investors, NGOs, and diaspora engagement. This initiative modernises Kanam’s administration, boosting transparency, inclusivity, and international reach. It positions Kanam as a progressive, economically viable community and sets a new standard for local governance in Plateau State and Nigeria.
